Lawmakers in Taiwan have voiced support for protesters in China who are calling for an end to the country's zero-COVID policy and even for democratic reforms. The demonstrations have also found support in solidarity protests in cities including London, Tokyo and Sydney. Taiwan's ruling party has been given cause to reflect following bruising losses in last weekend's local elections, and the public's confidence in the country's economic performance has hit a 13-year low.
