We look into the news that a delivery to Taiwan of U.S.-made Stinger and Javelin missiles will be delayed due to the war in Ukraine. That comes as the U.S. Department of Defense forecasts that China is expanding its nuclear arsenal at a rapid rate and may have 1,500 warheads by 2035. And the former Chinese president, Jiang Zemin, has died aged 96. Also:
- Demand for long-term caregivers is rising as Taiwan's population ages. But what can be done to make the role more appealing for the migrant workers who leave their countries for such positions?
- Women took 9 out of 21 city and county chief positions in last weekend's local elections, a new record. But the path for women in politics in Taiwan is still far from smooth.
- An exhibition honoring the life and work of Malaysian-Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang has opened at the Pompidou Center in Paris.
