Taipei, Feb. 14 (CNA) Foreign Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Keisal Peters, who is currently visiting Taiwan for the first time, said on Tuesday she would give relations between the two countries an "A+."

Peters is visiting Taiwan for the Caribbean-focused Empower Women! Empower LAC! Forum in Taipei on Wednesday.

"And that would be my encouragement to continue that solidarity and at every step St. Vincent and the Grenadines we have demonstrated our commitment to the government and people of Taiwan," Peters said.

"And I would just encourage them to continue to put their best foot forward, continue to fly the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines high and continue to have that level of love and cooperation with the people of Taiwan because our countries have diplomatic relations, this year would be 42 years of relations," Peters added.

Ambassador of SVG and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Andrea Bowman also relayed the idea of a strong friendship between the two countries.

"We have been with Taiwan for 42 years, unbroken, 42 unbroken years, and this is real. Children have grown up with Taiwan," Bowman said. "We have a home away from home here and that is indicative of the relationship that we have nurtured over all of these years."

Regarding the forum, which will have a dialogue on the initiatives that Taiwan was able to partner with its allies in Latin America and the Caribbean, Peters said she will present from the Vincentian perspective.

"What I hope to learn are new initiatives that other countries may have dabbled in and tried and whether if they were successful to see whether if there can be a similar fit for St. Vincent and the Grenadines," Peters said.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan established diplomatic relations on Aug. 15, 1981, and based on the shared values of freedom, democracy and human rights, the relationship has become ever stronger, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
