A bipartisan American congressional delegation arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for a five-day visit, during which they will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and other senior government officials, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

The delegation comprises Democrats Ro Khanna of California, Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts, and Jonathan Jackson of Illinois, and Republican Tony Gonzales of Texas, MOFA said in a press release.

Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, the four members of Congress were welcomed by Douglas Hsu (徐佑典), head of MOFA's North American Affairs Department, according to the press statement.

During their five-day visit to Taiwan, the Congress members will meet with President Tsai and senior government officials to discuss ways of enhancing security cooperation and the economic and trade ties between Taiwan and the U.S., MOFA said.

The American delegation is also scheduled to meet with local business representatives to discuss cooperation in the fields of business and technology, the foreign ministry said.

The U.S. congressional delegation is the second one to visit Taiwan during the new session of the U.S. Congress, following a visit by Republican Senator Todd Young of Indiana in January.
