According to the statistics, 336 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$968,303,000 were approved from January to February 2023. This indicates a increase of 12% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 47.88% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 7 cases were approved with an amount of US$10,894,000 from January to February 2023. This indicates a decrease of 22.22% in the number of cases, but a increase of 86.99% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to February 2023, 1,563 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,577,148,000.

In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 73 projects were registered from January to February 2023 with a total amount of US$1,498,298,000, indicating an decrease of 8.75% in the number of cases, but a increase of 101.97% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.

As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 51 applications have been approved from January to February 2023, indicating a decrease of 31.08% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$409,744,000, 12.53% less than the same period in 2022.
