Taipei, March 20 (CNA) Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) said Monday that it will provide an extra train service from April to June, to meet high demand for southbound travel in the evenings.
Starting April 10, the No. 1549 high speed train will depart Nangang Station at 6:25 p.m., Monday to Thursday, stopping in Taipei, Banqiao, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli and terminating at Taichung Station, the THSRC said.
The additional service will be offered only until June 30, THSRC said, explaining that the extra service was established after the company observed an increasing commuting demand in the evening period on work days following the easing of COVID-19 control restrictions.
The company will adjust its services depending on the following demand after the long summer break begins on July 1, THSRC added.
Reservations for the new service will open Wednesday, and tickets can be purchased on THSRC's mobile booking system and website, via the Express ticketing app, at designated convenience stores, and at ticket counters and vending machines in high speed rail stations, the company said.
