Taipei, April 27 (CNA) Taiwan's top female shuttler Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) won her third career Asia Championship on Sunday by beating South Korea's An Se-young in straight games in the Badminton Asia Championships 2023 final in Dubai.
Tai, who entered the tournament as the fourth seed needed only 34 minutes to close out the final from second-seeded An in straight games, winning the title 21-10, 21-14.
In the first game, the Taiwanese shuttler took an early 8-1 lead before widening the gap to 17-7 and going on to win the game 21-10.
Tai started the second game even stronger, winning eight consecutive points to lead 8-0, though An did manage to reduce the gap to 11-6.
After winning seven of the next 12 points, Tai established a commanding 18-11 lead and reached match point at 20-13, before closing out the game 21-14 to win the match and secure her third Asia Championships title following wins in 2017 and 2018.
