Taipei, May 11 (CNA) Taipei-based EVA Airways has been certified by world renowned airline-ranking company Skytrax as a five-star airline for the eighth consecutive year since 2016, making it the only carrier in Taiwan to win the honor, the airline announced Thursday.
Only 10 airlines received a five-star rating from Skytrax this year, EVA Air said in a statement.
The decision to award the eighth consecutive five-star rating to EVA Air represents Skytrax's recognition of the consistently superb service provided by the airline's staff, company president Clay Sun (孫嘉明) said in the statement, adding that such awards motivate EVA Air to continuously improve its services to make passenger flights more comfortable.
Skytrax, the United Kingdom's leading aviation service research agency, awards airlines one-to-five stars annually after comprehensive evaluations and professional analyses of quality standards for about 350 airlines around the globe.
The quality evaluation criteria categories include airport services, seat comfort, inflight service supplies, cabin comfort, catering, in-flight entertainment, cabin crew services and more.
The honor of being considered a five-star airline is a rare one, with Skytrax typically only bestowing it on the 10 highest-rated carriers.
In addition to EVA Air, the other nine airlines to receive the highest five-star honors for 2023 include Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Hainan Airlines and Garuda Indonesia.
EVA Air's performance in areas, such as cabin cleanliness, sleep supplies, cabin safety, and seat comfort, as well as smooth boarding order, inflight services, flight attendant service skills, inflight tableware and inflight entertainment system, contributed to its five-star rating in the Skytrax 2023 analysis, according to the statement.
