Taiwan Fun, in partnership with KID Museum, is delighted to announce an exciting collaboration to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. This collaboration aims to foster creativity, cultural preservation, and activism while promoting the importance of recycling and environmental awareness.

In a truly innovative project, 500 Taiwan-themed puppets were meticulously crafted using recycled Yakult bottles. The project was led by FASCA DC students, Brandon Fan and Hannah Lin, who actively participated in the creation process. The dedicated efforts of talented students, including Selina Li, Lance Wei, and Lee Hou, alongside KID Museum volunteers, contributed to the success of this endeavor.

To foster an appreciation for Taiwan's rich cultural heritage, a local community event was organized, providing children with a unique opportunity to learn about the traditional art of hand puppetry. This engaging activity aimed to help children understand the significance of hand puppet performances during major festivals, particularly in front of temples, which hold a significant place in Taiwan's local culture. The event received an enthusiastic response from the children, who thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experience of creating their own hand puppets.

The Taiwan-themed booth at the event drew a large crowd, with both children and adults eager to delve deeper into the cultural significance of hand puppets in Taiwan. Visitors were captivated by the intricate details and vibrant colors of the hand puppets on display, serving as a testament to the enduring popularity of this traditional art form that transcends generational boundaries.

The event not only provided a platform for children to learn about Taiwan's cultural traditions but also emphasized the importance of preserving and passing down these traditions to future generations. By actively participating in the creation process, children gained a firsthand understanding of the craftsmanship and artistry involved in hand puppetry, ensuring its continuation and relevance in Taiwan's cultural landscape. This collaboration also aimed to raise awareness among the mainstream society about the significance and beauty of Taiwanese cultural heritage.
