Taipei, June 1 (CNA) The annual Celebration Canada, an outdoor festival featuring music and food to celebrate Canada Day, the country's national holiday, will be returning to Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park this year.

The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei's Director for Trade and Investment Ed Jager said the event, being organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (CCCT), will be an opportunity to celebrate Canada-Taiwan relations.

Unlike last year's event that was held a week before Canada Day, this year's event will be taking place on the official holiday, July 1, and will also be returning to the Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park, after last year's event was held at the Taipei Expo Park.

Calling the Hakka Park a "great place to have a party," Jager said the festival is a great opportunity to underline "how important Canada-Taiwan relations are, how close we are as people and how strong our relationship is."

According to CCCT Chair Brandon Thompson, the family-friendly free-entry event will feature Canadian food and music as well as a "Family Zone," featuring a bouncy castle, face painting, art activities and tattoo sticker booths, plus a hockey area.

CCCT and event sponsors have also prepared raffle prizes, including limited edition T-shirts, hotel stays and even airline tickets to Canada, he added.

Celebration Canada will be held from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 1.

Formerly known as Dominion Day, Canada Day commemorates the anniversary of the Constitution Act, which consolidated three territories into the single nation of Canada, back in July 1, 1867.
