On June 5, The Fast Fluency International Tutoring Program (FFITP) held its third annual virtual expo. This event is held to recognize the hard work of the staff and student tutors that make the program possible and free for all participants every year. The Wang & Wu Foundation coordinates FFITP with support from the Overseas Community Affairs Council(OCAC).

VIPs in attendance included Culture Center of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in San Francisco (Milpitas) Director Sophia Chuang, OCAC Councilmember Anna Wei, Wang & Wu Foundation CEO Albert Wang. FFITP Master Teachers Katy Wu, Julian Lung, Nancy Lin, and Sabrina Lu were all present as well.

In its third year of operation, the FFITP program commandeered a team of 25 high school students who went through training to become extraordinary English tutors to 25 LuZhou 5th grade elementary school students and 38 Kang Ning elementary school students. The high schoolers hailed from ten high schools located around the San Francisco Bay Area.

According to survey results, 95.8% of the elementary students who were impacted by FFITP would like to continue their English conversation lessons and practice with their tutors. 91.7% found English speaking to be significantly more interesting after participation in the program. Other than just English practice, students got to learn about cultural activities.

During the expo, high school tutors expressed their thoughts on the program and reflected on the past year. One of them expressed how they appreciated the opportunity that the Wang & Wu Foundation provided for them to learn how to be a mentor and prep for tutoring sessions. All tutors received community service hours and appreciation certificates from the Foundation and Taiwan elementary schools.

Anna Wei and Katy Wu presented the perfect attendance awards. This year, 8 students attended each of the 32 prep and teaching sessions; Lillian Cheung, Eva Hu, Ivan Ma, Vincent Shao Walter Chang, Ethan Huang, Jolene Liu, and Justin Chen were recognized for their extraordinary dedication to the team. Tutor Emma Chang was also awarded the special Teaching award.

35 participants of the expo came together to celebrate the accomplishments of FFITP over the past year. A job well done to all the tutors of FFITP for their work in mentoring and improving their skills in mentoring over the course of their involvement in the program.
