Taipei, June 19 (CNA) Taiwan's recurve team won one silver and two bronze medals at the 2023 Hyundai Archery World Cup stage three, held in the Colombian city of Medellin from June 13-18.

The recurve mixed team, made up of Wei Chun-heng (魏均珩) and his female partner Peng Chia-mao (彭家楙) defeated the Indian duo of Tushar Prabhakar Shelke and Bhajan Kaur 5-1 on Monday (Taipei time) to secure a bronze medal.

On Sunday, Taiwanese archers Wei, Su Yu-yang (蘇于洋) and Tang Chih-chun (湯智鈞) were defeated by their South Korean opponents 0-6 in the recurve men's team final receiving a silver medal.

South Korea sent some of its best archers to the event, including Kim Woo Jin and Kim Je Deok, both Tokyo Olympics gold medalists in the men's team event.

On Friday, Taiwan's recurve women's team, made up of Peng Chia-mao (彭家楙), Chiu Yi-ching (邱意晴) and Lei Chien-ying (雷千瑩), defeated the United States 5-3 to clinch a bronze medal.

South Korea won the gold medal in the event, while China finished in second place.

Speaking about the performance of the men's team, coach Liu Chan-ming (劉展明) said the archers have been under a lot of pressure over the past few months.

He noted that Wei's first shot lacked strength, so much so that it almost missed the target altogether.
