Taiwanese paddlers Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒) and Chen Szu-yu (陳思羽) were victorious in their Mixed Doubles Final at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Tunis on Sunday, upsetting South Korean team Lim Jonghoon and Shin Yubin and winning in three straight games 11-6, 13-11, 11-9 in a match that lasted just under 29 minutes.

After winning the first game comfortably 11-6, the Taiwanese duo faced stiffer competition in the second, finding themselves 4-1 down, before bringing it back to be neck and neck with the South Koreans, 8-8, 9-9, 10-10 and 11-11, before clinching the game with a decisive backhand drive and a score of 13-11.

Although Lin and Chen started the third game strong, at one point boasting a 7-4 lead, the South Koreans fought back and the teams were tied at 7-7 and 9-9.

However, Lin and Chen ultimately prevailed, with a strong forehand strike ending the game 11-9, giving the Taiwanese pair their victory in three straight games.

The match was particularly challenging for Lin, who has been suffering from ligament inflammation in his left hand since April, after an injury he picked up while competing in the WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023 semifinal in China, from which he was forced to withdraw.

Meanwhile, the title was second won by the duo, who also nailed their first in their debut at the WTT Contender Almaty 2022 last September.
