Taipei Summer Festival begins with firework shows set for every Wednesday

Taipei, July 3 (CNA) The Taipei 2023 Summer Festival, which is being held from July 1 to Aug. 20 in the Dadaocheng area in Datong District, will feature eight dazzling fireworks shows and a range of love-themed activities during the 51 days of the event, according to the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism.

Firework shows will take place at 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday and on the last day of the festival, the department said in a press release.

The annual event to mark Lunar Valentine's Day (Qixi Festival) will also feature singers performing love songs, a love-themed creative market, and food and beer stalls, among other attractions, the statement said.

Taipei City Government will impose traffic restrictions on nearby roads and bridges from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. during the firework displays, it added.

Bikes, cars and motorcycles will not be permitted to enter the Dadaocheng wharf, the press release said, adding that people are encouraged to take public transport whenever possible.
