Taipei, Aug. 4 (CNA) Taiwanese athlete Peng Ming-yang (彭名揚) won the nation's third gold at the 31st Summer Universiade in Chengdu, China, on Friday with victory in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Peng clocked 48.62 seconds, bettering the 48.70 requirement for Olympic qualification, with Ismail Nezir of Turkey second in 48.72 seconds.
Peng also broke Taiwan's 22-year-old national record of 48.63 seconds for the event, set by Chen Tien-wen (陳天文) in 2001.
