On September 1st, the Senior Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors(FASCA) Training Program held its closing ceremony jointly with the Taiwan Youth & Overseas Expatriate Bridging Program. Both programs were supported by the Overseas Community Affairs Council(OCAC).

To recognize the efforts of all the members of both groups, VIPs in attendance included Republic of China Vice President Dr. Ching-Te Lai, and Overseas Community Affairs Council Minister Chia-Ching Hsu. Vice President Lai congratulated attendees on their extensive work leading up to the finale of their respective programs. Minister Hsu emphasized the importance of spreading Taiwanese culture around the globe.

The twenty-six trainees hail from across North America: San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, and Washington D.C. chapters. Representing the Senior FASCA teams on stage to receive training completion certificates from OCAC were Irene Chao, Albert Lua, Emma Wang, and Sean Yang from Jade Mountain, Black Bear, Blue Magpie, and Tree Frog teams, respectively. They gifted hand-crafted shadow-boxes representing member's hometowns to the VIPs.

Prior to the event, Senior FASCA spent a week at Toucheng Leisure Farm in Yilan, working on team building, leadership, and proposals for FASCA in the future. Not only did trainees spend time working on professional skill sets applicable to their personal lives, but they also investigated Taiwanese culture by tasting local traditional ice cream flavors, building pit ovens, exploring Luodong Night Market, and even visiting Pinglin Tea Museum.

From most trainees not knowing anyone from other chapters on the first day to seeing blossoming friendships by the last day, it is clear that the 2023 OCAC Senior FASCA Communication and Training Camp in Yilan, Taiwan, was successful.
