On September 22, 2023, the Taiwan Centre for Mandarin Learning (TCML) in Ireland had the privilege of screening the Taiwanese film "Little Blue," directed by the talented Yifang Lee, at the Savoy Cinema in Dublin. This special screening was a significant part of the 18th Edition of Culture Night in Ireland, adding a touch of Taiwanese culture to the event. Notably, Ambassador Dr. Pierre Yang of the Taipei Representative Office in Ireland (TRO) graced us with his presence. This event enjoys generous support from the Taipei Representative Office in Ireland, Yuchia Lee Dignam, and the Overseas Community Affairs Council in Taiwan.

The guests included the students of TCML, Evan Furlong, OCAC Advisor, and Director of TCML Ireland, as well as Yuchia Lee, the esteemed Chairperson of the Dublin School of Mandarin Chinese (DSMC). Among the distinguished guests were the board members of DSMC, Tina Jan and Syue-Ping Ma.

Yuchia Lee, shared her thoughts on the film selection for the 2023 TCML Culture Night: "For this year's Culture Night, we made a deliberate choice to showcase 'Little Blue' for several reasons. In 2022, 'Little Blue' held the distinction of being the sole Taiwanese film in the drama category officially selected for the Busan Film Festival. Notably, the director, Yifang Lee, is also a member of our extended family within the Taiwan-Ireland community, with her residence in Ballinasloe, Galway."

"Little Blue" had already garnered significant recognition before its debut in Dublin. It was not only selected for the prestigious "A Window on Asian Cinema" section at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in 2022 but was also nominated for the Best Actress Award at the 2023 Taipei Film Festival. The film went on to clinch the Best Actress Award at the 4th Taiwan Film Critics Society Awards in 2023.

"Little Blue" took the audience on an enthralling journey through its intricate narrative layers, exploring themes of personal struggles, identity exploration, and the complex dynamics of family relationships. With its poetic and visually striking approach, the film resonated deeply with viewers, touching upon universal emotions and the longing for connection.

The event was met with resounding success, thanks to the captivating storytelling and profound themes explored in "Little Blue." It was an evening that showcased the power of cinema to bridge cultures and hearts, leaving an indelible mark on all those who attended.
