Taipei, Oct. 17 (CNA) Foreign visitors who spend NT$2,000 (US$61.86) or more on taxable goods can request for a tax refund form at the National Palace Museum (NPM) in Taipei and its southern branch starting Tuesday.
This service, the first provided by a museum in Taiwan, represents the NPM's commitment to creating a friendly environment and promoting cultural tourism in Taiwan, the museum said in a news release.
The tax refund form is available from the B1 gift shop and Tingyun bookstore located on the second floor of the NPM in Taipei, as well as the gift shop at the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum in Chiayi County.
According to the Ministry of Finance, refunds are eligible for foreign visitors who make purchases of NT$2,000 or more from the same store on the same day. The form is available from shop assistants at authorized TRS-labeled stores when visitors present their entry documents, with the refund claimable at VAT Refund Service Counters at Taiwan's airports.
