Taipei, Oct. 19 (CNA) A Japanese high school marching band that took Taiwan by storm in last year's National Day celebration will visit Taiwan again in December, the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC) said on Thursday.
According to GACC Secretary-General Lee Hou-ching (李厚慶), the Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School marching band -- nicknamed "Orange Devils" because of their orange costumes -- will visit Taipei First Girls' High School (TFG) for its 120th anniversary celebration, as well as put on performances in Taiwan.
This will be the band's second visit to Taiwan.
Marching bands of both schools performed at the 2022 National Day celebration and the "Orange Devils" also paid a visit to TFG, where they were warmly received, said Lee, adding that students of both schools enjoyed the exchange.
The Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School marching band plans to visit Taiwan again during Dec. 9-15, with its delegation consisting of 98 students and teachers, Lee said.
In addition to the Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School marching band performing in last year's National Day celebration, the celebration this year saw performances brought by the University of California at Los Angeles' (UCLA) Bruin Marching Band and the "Emerald Knights" of Tokyo University of Agriculture Second High School's marching band, all symbolizing Taiwan's friendly relations with Japan and the United States, according to Lee.
