The 16th Presidential and Vice Presidential Election is scheduled for voting on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Registration for overseas nationals returning to exercise their voting rights for the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election was closed on December 4, 2023, at local household registration offices.
The household registration office processing your application will send the Examination Result Notification (查核結果通知書) via registered mail to the applicant or the designated representative by December 13, 2023 at the latest. If the outcome mentioned in the "Examination Result Notification" meets the specified requirements, the household registration office will enroll your name in the list of voters. Subsequently, you will receive notification instructing you to vote at the designated village on January 13, 2024. The voter list will be publicly displayed for viewing at the township (or district, city) office where your registered residence is located from December 26 to 28, 2023. If you are in the country, you may personally review it. For those abroad, you can ask your relatives or friends in the country to examine it. If any errors or omissions are identified, you may apply for correction during the period of public viewing .
If you specified a domestic representative in your application, the voting notification will be sent to them by the township (or district, city) office. Otherwise, it will be retained at the township (or district, city) office of your registered residence for your retrieval. You can vote as long as your name is listed in the Voter List (選舉人名冊), even without the Voting Notification (投票通知單). However, to expedite the process, it is advisable to bring the Voting Notification, or note your voter list number and provide it to the polling station staff during ballot collection.
Please be advised:
If you do not have household registration in Taiwan but have been granted permission to register for voting upon returning, it is mandatory to bring your valid ROC (Taiwan) passport for voting. For those with household registration in Taiwan who meet the criteria as eligible voters under relevant election laws, please ensure you bring your ROC (Taiwan) ID Card and refrain from using alternative documents, such as a passport, for voting. You must cast your vote at the polling station located at the township (or district, city) office corresponding to your last registered residence before leaving the country. Detailed information regarding the polling station and its location will be provided on your voting notification. In the absence of your voting notification, you may inquire about your designated polling station at the township (or district, city) office of your registered residence. The voting is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
