As we enter the new era of AI and Machine Learning, EFTHA, co-hosted with GTMA-Europe, held the annual online webinar on the 23rd of March 2024. The topic of discussion was based on medical devices and data analysis of the general population wearing portable monitors such as the smart watch and portable continuous glucose monitors. Additionally, the webinar covered democracy development in Modern Taiwanese History and its important role in the international forum. The speakers were Dr. Brain Lo, Mr. David Lee, and Dr. Steven Lin, respectively. The medical webinar took place on the Webex platform and the YouTube livestream channels, both provided by the Taiwan Salon company. The posters were designed and distributed by CHATTIGR AS (Norway) company.

The 2024 Health Webinar, hosted by the European Federation of Taiwan Health Alliances (EFTHA) and the Global Taiwan Medical Alliance-Europe (GTMA-Europe), focused mainly on the new developments of various medical wearable monitoring devices for the general population's health. With the current rapid paradigm shift of traditional medical practice to Artificial Intelligence medicine, the speakers explained how Taiwanese corporations use small non-invasive devices to aid the development of precision medicine for future generations.

Dr. Brain Lo, Chairperson of the Taiwan Society of Law and Medicine, explained in his talk, "Together on Taiwan’s journey to democracy," how Taiwan, with its unique geographic advantage and high technology skills, formed part of the crucial international trading forum. He mentioned the development of Taiwan’s sovereignty since WWII through the Treaty of Peace with Japan and the struggle for democracy since the R.O.C. left the World Health Organization in 1971. The importance of safeguarding Taiwan's rights and democracy was emphasised at the end.

David Lee, CEO of Singular Wings Medical, shared his experience as an entrepreneur opening the first Lithuanian Medical technology company. His inspirational talk on "The Future of Telemedicine and Medical AI with Non-invasive Continuous Glucose Monitoring" provided audiences with insights into the potential of precision medicine. He also demonstrated his wearable monitors as future life-changing devices for the general population in the prevention of diabetes.

The final speaker is Dr. Steven Lin, a post-graduate PhD researcher at the University of Oxford. The presentation was on "New Opportunities in Healthcare with Wearable Fitness Devices." He spoke about how data collection from the general population, such as the Apple Watch and Fitbit, can guide AI development of personalised treatment through machine learning. A brief discussion on the ethical dilemma of data collection and possible breaches of individual confidentiality was mentioned during the Q&A session.

The event was informative, with positive feedback from the audience who attended the YouTube livestream. Special thanks to Taiwan Salon and CHATTIGR AS (Norway) for their technical support.
