Wang & Wu Cultural and Educational Foundation’s Fast Fluency International Tutoring Program (FFITP) hosted its fourth annual virtual Expo in the evening of May 31st. FFITP was started in 2021, during the pandemic when people worldwide were striving to find better virtual educational methods and tools. The Wang & Wu Foundation coordinates FFITP with support from the Overseas Community Affairs Council to make the program free for all that benefit from it.
VIPs in attendance included Culture Center of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in San Francisco (Milpitas) Director Sophia Chuang, Overseas Community Affairs Committee Councilmember Anna Wei, Wang & Wu Foundation CEO Albert Wang. FFITP Consultant Zhimei Wang and Master Teachers Katy Wu, Julian Lung, Nancy Lin, and Sabrina Lu were all present as well.
Each year since its initiation, the FFITP Expo is held to recognize the hard work of the staff and student tutors that make the program possible and free for all participants. The forty attendees of the night included VIPs, teachers, high school tutors, and students from Taiwan.
The expo was emceed by FFITP Academic Dean Katy Wu. She presented Presidential Volunteer Service Awards to Master Teachers Julian Lung and Nancy Lin. This is the first time that either of them have received this award over their years of teaching and helping their students qualify for the award. Teacher Lin expressed her gratitude towards the FFITP for helping her achieve this accomplishment.
This year, the thirty FFITP high school tutors hailed from fourteen high schools across the Bay Area. Six of the tutors were presented with perfect attendance awards, and Outstanding Service Awards were awarded to four of the tutors for serving the program for over three years. With nine tutors graduating both from high school and the program, the expo was a bittersweet ending to yet another successful year.
