Taipei, April 15 (CNA) A documentary tracing the development of Taiwan's semiconductor industry over the past five decades is set to premiere in the country on June 13.

The film, "A Chip Odyssey," was made at a pivotal moment in history as Taiwan's semiconductor manufacturing comes under the global spotlight amid increasingly volatile geopolitics, said Ben Tsiang (蔣顯斌), CEO of CNEX Studio Corp., on social media on Monday.

The film tells the story of how Taiwan's semiconductor industry started from scratch 50 years ago to become indispensable to the world today, Tsiang said, adding that it was an impossible mission made possible by pioneers across generations.

Meanwhile, director Hsiao Chu-chen (蕭菊貞) said in a separate post on Monday that "A Chip Odyssey" documents a group of engineers with strong bonds and resolve working tirelessly to build up Taiwan's "semiconductor legend."

It took Hsiao, CNEX -- a non-profit organization dedicated to making and promoting Chinese-language documentaries -- and other partners five years to bring the project to fruition, Hsiao added.

The documentary will premiere in Taiwan on June 13 and is expected to tour overseas in the autumn.
