Taipei, May 24 (CNA) The journey of Taiwan's badminton mixed doubles duo Ye Hong-wei (葉宏蔚) and Nicole Chan (詹又蓁) at the 2025 Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur came to an end in the semifinals on Saturday after they suffered a 2-0 loss to China's Feng Yanzhe (馮彥哲) and Huang Dongping (黃東萍).
Ye, 25, and Chan, 20, teamed up in mid-2024 and are currently ranked No. 23 in the world.
The Taiwanese shuttlers took on China's second seeds in the mixed doubles event but proved no match for Feng and Huang, losing the match 10-21, 7-21.
In the first half of the first game, the pairings were neck and neck until Ye and Chan lost focus and seven consecutive points with the game at 6-7.
While the Taiwanese shuttlers found their footing again after falling behind 6-14, they were unable to bridge the gap and lost the game 10-21.
In the second game, the Taiwanese shuttlers fell behind early to their Chinese opponents at 3-11.
Once again, the Taiwanese pairing left themselves too much to do and the match concluded with Feng and Huang winning the second game 7-21.
The Saturday match was the second time the pairings have faced off in recent weeks, following a game last week at the 2025 Thailand Open in Bangkok, which he Chinese shuttlers also won.
