The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) held a press conference on May 28 to officially announce the Taiwan Craft Festival 2025, which is scheduled to take place from June 1 to Aug. 31.
Minister of Culture Li Yuan, NTCRI Director Chen Tien-li (陳殿禮), Taiwan Association of Crafts President Chen Chi-tsun (陳啟村), and other distinguished guests attended the event.
The Taiwan Craft Festival 2025 will feature exhibitions at 38 venues across Taiwan, including the northern, central, southern, and eastern regions, as well as the outlying islands. Highlighting both tradition and innovation in Taiwanese crafts, the festival will launch a diverse range of activities, offering the public a fresh and enriching array of craft experiences.
Minister Li remarked that crafts represent one of Taiwan’s most significant cultural heritages. He noted that NTCRI’s initiatives help connect the island’s craft-making hubs and contribute to shaping Taiwan as an “island of crafts.” “Crafts inspire us to reignite our passion for life, slow down our pace, and appreciate the beauty around us,” he said.
Director Chen emphasized that this year marks the NTCRI’s 71st anniversary. In celebration of this milestone, the festival embraces the concept of “SLOHAS,” which stands for Simplicity, Lifestyle, Originality, Health, Aesthetics, and Sustainability, aiming to showcase Taiwan’s cultural richness and creativity while encouraging the public to adopt a lifestyle that integrates sustainability and beauty.
