The Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Spain is partnering with Genalguacil Pueblo Museo in Málaga to launch a new artist residency program. One visual artist from Taiwan will be selected to reside in Genalguacil from September to October 2025.
The Cultural Division of the TECO in Spain noted that Genalguacil has been transformed into an art town through ongoing creative initiatives. This collaboration aims to foster meaningful connections between Taiwanese artists and the local Spanish community. The program encourages artworks that explore contemporary themes related to social issues, humanistic values, and ecological concerns.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture (MOC), the selected artist will be provided with accommodation and a workspace in Genalguacil, as well as opportunities to network with local art professionals and organizations. One of the artist’s works will be collected by the museum, and the artist will also have the opportunity to participate in ARCOmadrid 2026 – the International Contemporary Art Fair.
Applications for the residency are open now through June 26. Eligible applicants are Taiwanese visual artists who have not previously participated in an MOC residency program within the past two years, have publicly exhibited their work, and possess a good command of English or Spanish. The selected artist will be announced in mid-July.
