The National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL) officially opened its second Taipei Branch – the Taiwan Literature Hub (臺灣文學糧倉) – on June 6. Located in the former Taipei Office of the Taiwan Provincial Food Agency, the Hub provides a new space for literary and cross-disciplinary creators and aims to encourage literary development in Taiwan through a variety of incubation programs.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Li Yuan, Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Ching-hwi (李靜慧), NMTL Director Chen Ying-fang (陳瑩芳), and other distinguished guests.
Director Chen noted that the Taiwan Literature Base, NMTL’s first Taipei branch, has played a key role in promoting international writer residency programs and enhancing the accessibility of literature in our daily lives. She added that the newly inaugurated Taiwan Literature Hub will further strengthen NMTL’s efforts in interdisciplinary creation and international exchange by serving as a platform for exhibitions and literary promotion.
Minister Li announced that alongside the Hub’s opening, the Ministry of Culture is launching a literary adaptation matchmaking event. Scheduled for June 10, the event will present 16 acclaimed literary works to film, television, and performing arts producers. He also shared that a “Scriptwriting School” will begin in August at the Hub, supporting the development of literary and cross-disciplinary writing talent.
To mark its opening, the Taiwan Literature Hub is launching two exhibitions – “The Most Beautiful Book: Taiwan and Czech” and “An Exchange of Words: Literature, Taiwan, and the World,” along with a series of related events.
