Taipei, June 24 (CNA) Taiwanese heptathlete Lin Pei-hsuan (林沛萱) won a gold medal at the 2025 Thailand Open Track & Field Championships on Tuesday, with Taiwan winning an additional three gold medals the same day.
Lin claimed victory with a total of 4,896 points, finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and javelin. She also set a new personal best in the javelin with a throw of 49.36 meters.
The win marked a strong comeback for the 18-year-old after a disappointing performance at the Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea in late May, where she scored 4,747 points and placed seventh out of nine competitors.
Her coach, Chen Hung-chieh (陳鴻傑), said they had specifically worked on the shot put and javelin -- two events where Lin struggled in South Korea -- and that work paid off in Thailand.
"My focus is whether she improved in each individual event rather than just her total score," Chen said, adding that Lin has become more focused since the Asian Championships.
Also on Tuesday, Taiwan's Lee Tzu-yun (李慈雲) and Wu Yu-ting (吳育廷) won gold in the men's discus and 400-meter hurdles, respectively, while Lo Pei-lin (羅佩琳) claimed first place in the women's 400-meter hurdles.
As of Tuesday, Team Taiwan had won seven golds, five silvers, and seven bronzes. The tournament concludes on Wednesday.
