Taipei, July 26 (CNA) Taiwanese archer Tang Chih-chun (湯智鈞) won gold in the men's individual recurve at the 2025 World University Games in Germany on Saturday.
The 24-year-old defeated China's Qin Wangyu (秦望愉) 6-5 by edging him 10-8 in a shoot-off following a 5-5 tie.
With the victory, Tang, a two-time Olympian, ended Taiwan's two-decade title drought in men's individual recurve at the Universiade.
Taiwan's last gold in the event was won by Kuo Chen-wei (郭振維) in Izmir, Turkey, in 2005.
Tang's medal also marked Taiwan's third gold at the ongoing Universiade, which runs through Sunday in the Rhine-Ruhr region.
As of press time, Taiwanese athletes had won three golds, 10 silvers, and seven bronzes to place 11th in the overall medal table.
