Taipei, Aug. 16 (CNA) Taiwan's female kayak team finished second at the 2025 Asian Canoe Slalom Championships in Guizhou, China on Saturday, taking silver.

The three-member female kayak team beat Kazakhstan with a time of 185.29 seconds, but lost to China.

It was the second time on the podium for Taiwanese team leader and Olympic gold medalist Chang Chu-han (張筑涵) since the Asian Canoe Slalom Championships in 2017.

In an interview after Saturday's event, Chang said she was happy with the results, as the team had been aiming to finish no lower than second.

She also said that team events tend to test the members' cohesiveness and adaptability, and were therefore more interesting than individual contests.

Taiwan has struggled over the past few years to put together a team of female kayakers, finding only two of the three required members, according to Chang.

This time around, Chou Chih-chin (周芝瑾), who has experience in both canoe and kayak races, completed the lineup, Chang said.

Asked about her future goals, Chang said she is currently focused on training and earning a chance to represent Taiwan at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya.

Having won medals at each of the last three Asian Games, Chang will set a national record if she wins a fourth one at the Games next year.
