Taipei, Sept. 1 (CNA) Taiwan and Indonesia have renewed their commitment to fostering agricultural talent through existing cooperation and to ensuring a sustainable food supply in the face of threats posed by climate change, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Monday.

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture held a consultation meeting on agricultural cooperation on Thursday, focusing on the challenges that climate change poses to food safety.

The two sides agreed to work together to strengthen agricultural resilience by continuing talent cultivation and technological cooperation, thereby ensuring a steady food supply.

The meeting minutes were signed by Taiwan's representative to Indonesia Bruce Hung (洪振榮) and Indonesia's representative to Taiwan Arif Sulistiyo.

On Friday and Saturday, an Indonesian delegation visited food plants in Yilan and Changhua counties and observed the work of young Indonesian farmers engaging in internships in the two regions.

MOFA noted the meeting's success and expressed hope that the two countries will continue to engage in substantive cooperation, including on food safety, to ensure a win-win situation for both sides.
