Every holiday season, Fasca members, their parents, and TAA families team up for the annual “Toys for Tots” volunteer event. As usual, the event took place in the capital region Toys for Tots warehouse. With the holiday season approaching, these toys will travel by train to places where kids and families really need them.
Youth and parents worked together from start to finish–picking out toys and thoughtfully sorting them into their correct age group, ensuring that those who received them would be happy. The team work was amazing. Parents were helping, encouraging and showing great examples, while the youth brought tons of energy. The room was full of laughter, communication, and teamwork as everyone worked side by side. Many people said the whole environment made the work feel much easier and more fun than expected.
For many FASCA members, this turned out to be one of the most fun service projects of the year. A first time participant said “It was really fun. It was simple and I felt good helping people.” Many were surprised by how systematic the process was, and many wanted to keep going even after they had finished. A few even said they wished the event lasted longer because they enjoyed working together so much.
One youth who joined for the third year shared, “this year so many new FASCA members came. After the instructions, we formed teams by ourselves and finished super fast. E even felt like we wanted to continue sorting! When we saw the huge pile of sorted toys, it felt awesome. Some of us even signed up again to come back!” Their excitement showed how meaningful the experience was, not just for the community but for the youth themselves.
Parents also appreciated the event. One TAA parent said, “this is very meaningful. We’ve been doing this for many years, and we’re happy to see more young FASCA members join. The local community can really feel the warmth of Taiwanese people through this project.” Many parents mentioned that doing this activity with their kids helped them bond, and they enjoyed seeing their children take the lead and responsibly work.
Even though it was cold outside, the group worked with warm hearts. The youth enjoyed being together, helping each other, and seeing how fast the toys piled up. The teamwork made the whole room feel lively and positive. Many youth said their favorite part was working as a team and knowing their effort would bring someone joy this holiday season. Several of them said they hope more friends can join next year.
By joining this event, FASCA members didn't just sort tolys–they also connected with the local mainstream community. They showed the values many Taiwanese families care about: helping others, teamwork, and kindness. It was also a great parent-child activity, giving families time to work together and do something meaningful.
The annual event showed once again that even small actions can make a big difference. Through simple steps like sorting toys, the group created presents that will bring joy to people far away. And at the same time, they shared the kindness and helpful spirit of Taiwan with the community.
