This year's R.O.C.'s 115th year New Year Flag Raising event was held at the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco (Milpitas). The event kicked off with a powerful drum opening, after which the color guard completed the flag ceremony. The National Taiwan University Alumni Chorus sang the national anthems of both the United States of America and the Republic of China, with many in the audience singing along.
As the event went on, the VIPs shared their thoughts and blessings going into 2026, wishing everyone a prosperous year. VIPs included Chairwoman of the Double Ten Celebration Committee Sharon Lin, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco Director-General David Wu, and Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco (Milpitas) Director Sophia Chuang.
After the VIPs greeted the crowd, various performances followed: an energizing lion dance performed by high school students of the Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors, an elegant performance from Feather in the Wind dance group, "It is Friday night" dance by the California Line Dance Association of America, audience singing of “My Future is not a Dream", and more!
The event space was full, 650 participants gathered on the rainy day to welcome the new year. As soon as the event ended, the cloud cover dissipated, bathing everyone with warm sunlight. Hello, 2026!
