The National Immigration Agency (NIA) has fully implemented the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online system for foreign travelers entering Taiwan, effective October 1. Completion of the TWAC is entirely free of charge and may be submitted online within three days prior to arrival in Taiwan.

To prevent unscrupulous parties from setting up fraudulent websites to mislead unsuspecting foreign travelers into paying unnecessary fees, the NIA’s Border Affairs Corps has produced three specially designed promotional postcards. These postcards are distributed in cooperation with airlines at overseas departure airports prior to boarding, as well as at immigration inspection halls in airports and seaports across Taiwan upon travelers’ arrival. The initiative has been very well received, with many travelers actively requesting the postcards.

To further ensure that information about this new measure reaches all foreign visitors, the Border Affairs Corps has expanded its outreach through media channels, relevant government websites, and airline and shipping company partnerships. In anticipation of the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, three festive postcard designs featuring holiday themes have been created. The postcards incorporate iconic images representing Taiwan, such as Taipei 101, Liberty Square, Taiwan’s famous bubble milk tea, and the plum blossom—the national flower—along with a QR code linking directly to the official TWAC website. Taking advantage of the holiday season, these postcards are distributed to foreign travelers during immigration inspection upon arrival. In addition, Taiwan’s three major international airlines have assisted by distributing the postcards at overseas stations to foreign passengers preparing to board flights to Taiwan.

The NIA reiterates that completion of the TWAC online submission is completely free of charge. Travelers to Taiwan are advised to remain vigilant and avoid scams. Within three days prior to arrival, travelers may access the TWAC through the official NIA website at [Link]. When using keyword searches, please verify that the website address is correct. Any website that charges a fee is not an official government website. Travelers are urged to exercise caution and protect themselves from fraud.
