BOCH hosts ‘2024 International Forum on Taiwan Cultural Heritage’ in Taipei

The Ministry of Culture’s Bureau of Cultural Heritage (BOCH) hosted the “2024 International Forum on Taiwan Cultural Heritage” from Sept. 25 to 26 in Taipei, inviting international experts to engage in dialogues with government agencies, scholars, and civil society organizations dedicated to preserving cultural heritage in Taiwan.

Themed “Border-Crossing ~ Innovation in Motion,” the forum showcases examples of Taiwan’s cultural heritage while incorporating global concepts and trends in world heritage. The six invited experts are from Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the United States, who are members of the International Committee on Cultural Monuments and Historic Sites (ICOMOS), an important advisory body to UNESCO for World Heritage List inscriptions.

Culture Minister Li Yuan said that the forum offers an opportunity for international knowledge exchange and serves as a bridge for Taiwan’s cultural heritage policy to connect with the global community.

Teresa Patricio, president of ICOMOS, emphasizes that cultural policies must go beyond traditional approaches and adopt forward-thinking strategies to address global challenges.
