In preparation for the 2024 Taiwan Technology X Culture Expo (TTXC) in Kaohsiung City, the Pier-2 Art Center launched a themed residency focusing on “Digital and Technological Art,” and has invited artists-in-residence to participate in the program.

These invited artists include Synthiola from Italy, Brazilian duo Ygor Marotta & Renata Chebel, Taiwan-Hong Kong new media arts team Dimension Plus (超維度), and Asian creative team Hello Edo! (江戶未來世), sourcing their inspiration from the local culture of Kaohsiung, such as Taiwanese temples and night markets. Their artworks will be featured as a part of the “G.A.M.E” exhibition at the expo.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) noted that the Pier-2 Art Center has had over 200 artist join the Pier-2 Artist-in-Residence Program (PAIR) since its launch in 2015, and that this year marks the first time AI artists have stayed at Pier-2.
