The Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors in Washington D.C. (FASCA DC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community service by organizing its annual food drive for Manna Food Center in Gaithersburg, MD. This year, the student committee, led by Annabelle Lee, collected and delivered an impressive 1,054 pounds of food on November 25, just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Manna Food Center, a non-profit organization established in 1983, aims to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County, MD, through food sharing, education, and advocacy. FASCA DC has proudly supported this mission since 2021, and its efforts have grown significantly each year.
The student committee members worked tirelessly for weeks, setting up collection stations at local public schools and Chinese-language schools. The weekend before the delivery, they gathered at the Culture Center of TECRO to sort and inspect the donations, ensuring that only quality items were included. This year’s collection of 1,054 pounds of food is almost double the amount collected last year, showcasing the growing impact of their initiative.
The dedication and hard work of the FASCA DC students is truly commendable. Their successful food drive not only provided much-needed assistance to the Manna Food Center but also highlighted the importance of youth engagement in community service. As the holiday season approaches, their efforts remind us of the importance of giving back and how each of us can make a difference in our communities.
