In its first-ever collaboration with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (LCO), the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is set to give a concert with the LCO at the NTSO Concert Hall in Taichung City on Dec. 6.
Conducted by Sergej Krylov, music director and violinist of the LCO, the two groups will be performing Mendelssohn’s Overture to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream;” Dvorak’s Symphony No.9; and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major, presenting these classical compositions in a brand-new way.
NTSO Director Liu Suan-yung (劉玄詠) said that the NTSO is honored to partner with the LCO to bring the audience a unique musical experience. He also noted that the NTSO’s unprecedented performance in Lithuania in 2022 had not only achieved a great success, but also laid the foundation for cultural exchange between Taiwan and Lithuania. To further strengthen the bond between the two countries, the NTSO also invited Lithuanian composers to serve as judges for the NTSO Composition Competition, Director Liu added. He hopes that, through cultural exchanges with the world’s top orchestras, the NTSO will bring more musical innovation and inspiration.
