The 2025 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TiBE) concluded on Feb. 9. The Ministry of Culture (MOC) highlighted that this year’s TiBE featured 504 domestic and international publishers from 29 countries and attracted 570,000 visitors. Additionally, it recorded 2,031 copyright sales—the highest ever.

Furthermore, the exhibition welcomed 1,269 Taiwanese and international writers, hosted 1,126 promotional activities as well as 11 sessions of the publishers’ forum, and drew 896 international industry professionals. In terms of local school participation, 5,220 visitors from 154 groups attended, with the MOC subsidizing 845 students from 42 schools in rural areas.

The MOC stated that over 60,000 entry ticket rebates were issued over the five days, marking an increase of more than 28% compared to 2024. Meanwhile, the Culture Points discount for youths reached NT$15,000,000, a 2% increase from the previous year.

Taipei Book Fair Foundation Chairperson Isabella Wu Yun-yi (吳韻儀) remarked that the MOC’s initiatives, such as entry ticket rebates and Culture Points, proved effective, as reflected in the strong participation of young attendees. She also noted that e-readers were among the most popular items, alongside new milestones in copyright transactions and the presence of international professionals.

Minister of Culture Li Yuan emphasized the ministry’s commitment to fostering TiBE as a global platform for publishers and writers. He also announced that Thailand will be the next TiBE Guest of Honor, highlighting the frequent exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand’s publishing, film, and television sectors in recent years.

Duangporn Sudthisomboo, vice president of the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT), stated that this honor reflects Taiwan’s recognition of Thai culture and literature. She added that they look forward to showcasing a diverse array of Thai literary works next year.
