Taipei, April 27 (CNA) Tuvalu Ambassador to Taiwan Limasene Teatu was awarded the Order of Brilliant Star with Special Grand Cordon by Taiwan's Foreign Minister on Wednesday, in recognition of her contribution to promoting closer relations between the two countries.

Presenting the award, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) said he hopes Teatu will continue to help enhance bilateral ties and promote future cooperative projects.

Teatu, who took office in 2017, said she will continue to support Taiwan's international inclusion and work to make known Taiwan's contribution to the international community.

According to the ministry, Teatu is the second Tuvalu Ambassador to Taiwan, since diplomatic ties were established in 1979.

Taiwan and Tuvalu have seen significant progress in high level visits, as well as exchanges in agriculture, fishing industry, medicine, clean energy and culture, the ministry said.
