The Washington Metropolitan Association of Chinese Schools (WMACS) sports meeting was traditionally held alternately by Chinese schools but eight years ago responsibility for organization was passed to WMACS, with various schools taking on different work items and cooperating to bring the event to fruition. It has become a grand occasion on the Washington area overseas community calendar. The event was called off in 2018 and 2019 due to heavy rain and then cancelled due to the COVID pandemic in 2020 and 2021. This year the principals meeting of the WMACS decided to overcome all difficulties and hold the sports meeting once again. It began at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland, a place local overseas compatriots are familiar with, on May 1 and had around 800 students, and teachers and family members in attendance.
