Taipei, May 16 (CNA) Fujifilm Electronic Materials Taiwan Co., a subsidiary of Japanese lithography manufacturer Fujifilm Holdings Co., announced Tuesday it will invest 15 billion Japanese yen (US$110 million) to expand its operations in Taiwan.
The money will be used to build a new factory in the Hsinchu Industrial Park and expand an existing plant in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, creating 50 job opportunities, according to the company.
The two new facilities will focus on the manufacture of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurries, which are employed to polish and planarize complex layers of integrated circuits, it said.
The new Hsinchu plant in northern Taiwan, which will begin construction in 2024 and start commercial operations in 2026, is also expected boost the local supply of photolithography materials, it said.
Meanwhile, the expanded plant in southern Taiwan's Tainan will start boosting operation in spring 2024, according to the company.
