It's the spring time and the Taiwanese American Association of Greater Cleveland (TAAGC) celebrated mother's day at the metro park Royalview Reserved Shelter in Strongsville on May 20th, 2023 to enjoy a day together.

The President of TAAGC Amy Hui-Chun Chang welcomed everyone to celebrate this special day by introducing the staff members first and then appreciated the enthusiastic donors who contributed great food. The main focus of TAAGC is to connect seniors, middle age and young people to connect three generations together so we can care and support each other. Amy appreciated those who made suggestions to the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) for future improvements to support TAAGC. Amy also introduced several local groups including Janice Liu from the Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA), Mike Lin from the Taiwanese Christian Church of Cleveland, Tammy Young from the Xin-Sheng Choir and Grace Lin from the Chinese Academy of Cleveland (CAOC). Each group representative has spoken about their recent event or their organizations.

Janice Liu, the President of Ohio North FAPA chapter,  who is also the Treasurer of TAAGC spoke about the location of TAA summit at the Ohio Dominican University from July 7th to July 9th, 2023 and Janice encouraged more people to attend this summit. Janice and other Ohio FAPA leaders had on line advocacy meetings with twelve Ohio House of Representatives and two Senators. The discussion topics included the arms sale backlog to Taiwan, the office name change to Taiwan Representative office, trade agreement between Taiwan and US. The 50 years special anniversary edition of Taiwanese Association of America is now published. The Mayor of Cleveland Justin Bibb has a Proclamation for celebrating the recognition of Taiwanese American Heritage Week. The Mayor Bibb was on behalf of the citizen of the City of Cleveland to offer this proclamation recognizing Taiwanese American Heritage week, May 14th -21, 2023 in the City of Cleveland. Cleveland and Taipei has had sister city relationships since 1975.

The TAAGC also invited Kuei-Mei Wang, CNP from the University Hospital for a presentation regarding “how to sleep healthy and brief discussion of stopping breathing during the sleep". Ms. Wang educated the group with various powerpoint presentation slides and brought small gifts for quizzes by asking questions from the information she introduced during her presentation. It's a very fun way to gain the knowledge from Kuei-Mei's expertise.

Finally President Chang took the lead for a group dance after all guests had a great meal so everyone stood up for relaxing themselves with movements and music. All mothers were gifted flowers at the end for celebrating the mother's day together. It is wonderful to have this event and the group enjoyed each other's company by meeting new and old friends, learning health related knowledge, eating great food and supporting each other!
