Taipei, Oct. 7 (CNA) Taiwanese Chang Yu-sung (張祐菘) took home a silver medal in the soft tennis men's singles at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Saturday, while fellow Taiwanese player Chen Yu-hsun (陳郁勳) received a bronze despite losing in the semifinal.
Chang, who played a round of 16 game, quarterfinal, semifinal, and the final all on Saturday, defeated South Korean Yoon Hyoungwook 4-3 in the other semifinal, but lost to Japan's Toshiki Uematsu 0-4 in the final.
Chen, meanwhile, battled past Thailand's Kawin Yannarit before reaching the semifinal on Saturday, where he lost to Uematsu 3-4 in a close game, to claim a bronze medal.
On Wednesday, Chang won another silver medal in the men's team event.
As of 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Taiwan (competing under the name Chinese Taipei) is sixth in the medals table, having won 18 golds, 18 silvers, and 28 bronzes.
Taiwan's performance is the nation's second best ever at the Asian Games, the best result being 19 gold medals at the 1998 Asian Games. The quadrennial multi-sport event concludes on Sunday.
