Taipei, Feb. 19 (CNA) Fifteen companies from a Taiwanese drone industry delegation are currently in Germany to participate in a European drone industry trade fair, the delegation's organizer, the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA), said Tuesday.

The 15 firms were among a total of 184 companies from 33 countries attending the Xponential Europe trade fair, which is being held in Dusseldorf, Germany from Feb. 18-20.

The event bills itself as "the leading trade fair for uncrewed systems and robotics across all domains of autonomous technology."

Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC) Chairman Hu Kai-hung (胡開宏), who heads the TEDIBOA, said from Dusseldorf that the event marked the first international trip the alliance had organized to help its members seek out new business opportunities.

Specifically, it is hoped that the event will give international firms a better understanding of Taiwan's technical capabilities, allow them to find areas for cooperation, and promote Taiwan's products abroad, Hu said.

Following the trade fair, members of the alliance will travel to the Czech Republic and Poland to learn about the drone industry in those countries, according to the TEDIBOA website.

Members of the alliance will also take part in trade fairs and exhibitions in Japan, the United States and Poland later this year, the website shows.

The TEDIBOA was set up by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in September 2024 and currently has more than 160 members.
