To celebrate International Museum Day 2025 on May 18, the Ministry of Culture (MOC) has announced a series of events to be held at nine museums across Taiwan. These activities will highlight the values and appeals of Taiwan’s museums through innovative technologies such as virtual reality (VR), immersive experiences, and digital games.

A press conference was held on May 14 at Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei, attended by Minister of Culture Li Yuan, President Hung Shih-yu (洪世佑) of the Taiwan Museum Association, ROC, Deputy Director Yu Pei-chin (余佩瑾) of the National Palace Museum, and other distinguished guests.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) has designated this year’s theme for International Museum Day as “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities,” focusing on how museums can navigate and contribute to a world undergoing profound social, technological, and environmental shifts.

In line with this theme, the MOC is promoting the concept of “Museums and Technology Applied Experience,” which leverages youth creativity and technological innovation to make the collections of nine museums more accessible and engaging to the public.

Minister Li also noted that the MOC’s Culture Points initiative has launched promotional campaigns encouraging young people to visit museums on May 17 and 18. In addition, guided cultural tours will be introduced, beginning with the first tour on May 23 at the National Museum of History in Taipei.
