The APEC 2025 High-Level Dialogue on Cultural and Creative Industries (HLD-CCI) was held in Gyeongju, South Korea, on Aug. 26. Vice Minister of Culture Hsu Yi-chun (徐宜君) led the Taiwan delegation and engaged with representatives from 20 APEC member economies.
Aligned with the main theme and three key priorities of APEC 2025 Korea, “Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Connect, Innovate, Prosper,” the HLD-CCI explored three lines of cooperative action to promote further economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region through cultural and creative industries.
Vice Minister Hsu presented Taiwan’s achievements in cultural technology innovations and intellectual property (IP) collaborations, highlighting the establishment of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) in 2019 and its role in forging partnerships with counterparts in the U.S., Japan, and Thailand.
Addressing the impact of emerging digital tools on content creation, Hsu noted that Taiwan has been actively developing guidelines for the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in cultural and artistic applications, with the aim of fostering a constructive relationship between the creative industries and AI technology.
The Ministry of Culture emphasized that Taiwan is an ideal economic partner for APEC, given its cultural values of diversity, openness, and inclusivity, and reaffirmed Taiwan’s commitment to working with APEC members to advance economic development and strengthen regional networks through culture.
