The New Construction Office, Public Works Department, Taipei City Government, which implemented the Nangang Elevated Connecting Platform and Associated Greening Facilities Turnkey Project, was selected in the 2025 Taiwan Light Environment Award, organized by the Coretronic Culture and Arts Foundation, and received the Juror’s Choice Award on December 26, 2025. This recognition not only affirms the project’s construction quality but also marks a new milestone for the Nangang area in advancing urban aesthetics and improving the pedestrian environment.

The Shuinan Elevated Connecting Platform Project is a key hub in the Taipei City Government’s plan to develop Nangang, following the Xinyi Planning District, into another area with a comprehensive grade separated pedestrian connectivity system. The platform links Nangang Station, Nangang Station (Taipei Metro), Taipei Music Center, and nearby parks and green spaces. In the future, it will connect with developments along the route to form an elevated pedestrian corridor.

The core value of the Nangang Elevated Connecting Platform Project lies in creating a people-oriented pedestrian space that is friendly, safe, and aesthetically appealing. In terms of lighting design, the project achieves both functionality and visual quality. At night, lighting guides pedestrian movement, enhancing legibility and a sense of safety in the nighttime environment. With “people-oriented walkability” and “linking the East District Green Corridor” as its core concepts, embedded or concealed luminaries are used within the bridge structure, on stairways, and on the platforms. Indirect lighting is applied along railings and edges, effectively controlling glare and light pollution and significantly improving comfort and safety for nighttime users.

In addition to its outstanding light environment performance, the project also places strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. Along Civic Boulevard, an ecological green corridor of approximately 800 meters has been developed in parallel. Through the use of permeable paving and multi-layered green spaces, the project creates a high-quality living network with integrated recreational functions, bringing more greenery and breathing space into the busy city.
