Tokyo, Jan. 27 (CNA) Taiwan's Starlux Airlines and Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama on Tuesday unveiled a collaboration featuring gold and silver livery designs for two Airbus A350-1000s, which are scheduled to enter into service in the second half of the year.
The designs debuted at a launch event at Tokyo's Omotesando Hills, where Sorayama presented Starlux Chairman Chang Kuo-wei (張國煒) with aircraft models showcasing the two designs, personally signed by the artist.
Chang said Starlux has consistently aimed to project a futuristic brand identity, adding that Sorayama's forward-looking art -- blending cold metallic elements with a sense of emotion -- made the collaboration a natural fit.
Flying is like Sorayama's artistic creations -- metal infused with emotion, carrying travelers across the world and forging connections between people, Chang said.
Sorayama said that, with Starlux Airlines' full support, the two sides navigated multiple rounds of discussions and technical challenges before completing the distinctive project, which he said were joint creations by him and Chang.
Sorayama noted that he and Chang both have "rebellious DNA" -- a refusal to settle for the status quo and a drive to push boundaries.
The two aircraft are named Starlux Airsorayama Silver (B-58553) and Starlux Airsorayama Gold (B-58554), according to the airline.
