Taiwan's Magong has been named among the top 10 most welcoming cities in the world by Booking.com as part of the online travel agency's 2026 Traveller Review Awards.
According to Booking.com, Magong, the archipelagic Penghu County's administrative center, qualified for the list based on an average of all verified guest review scores from Dec. 1, 2022, to Nov. 30, 2025.
Booking.com cited Magong's historic religious sites, traditional architecture, harborfront streets and surrounding coastal scenery, along with local cultural events and food traditions, as factors behind its selection.
Among Magong's best-known landmarks is the Magong Mazu Temple, widely regarded as Taiwan's oldest temple. The temple dates back to around the 15th century, though it was rebuilt in the 16th century and underwent major renovations in 1922.
Other cities making the most welcoming cities list included Italy's Montepulciano, San Martín de los Andes in Argentina, Harrogate in the United Kingdom and Fredericksburg in the U.S. state of Texas.
More than 1.81 million accommodation, transportation and attraction partners across 221 countries received a Traveller Review Award in 2026, according to Booking.com, marking a record high for the program.
Italy topped the list for the ninth consecutive year with 214,666 award-winning partners, followed by France (170,596), Spain (152,292), Germany (111,685) and the United Kingdom (93,989).
